Quick Note: The People’s Power

This weekend, two nations with celebrated history will go to the polls to elect new leaders. These elections may define the fates of the two nations, Greece and Egypt, for several generations to come.

I will now raise my chief concern when it comes to democracy. When power is placed in the hands of the people, it is those who control the thoughts of the people, who have the real power.

There is a great power play of influence in our time. The most effective way of controlling democratic thought is by controlling the information the people receive. Trying to influence the hearts of the people is the new “soft dictatorship”.

With both countries facing tough futures in very different circumstances, it will be a joy to see how the field is won this time. The elections are free, but the airwaves, not so.

Watching patiently,
Jesse
